Swift Current Innovation Credit Union Wildcats right wing Sadie Keller was named the Saskatchewan Female U18 AAA Hockey League CCM 1st Star for the month of February.
The Gull Lake native helped the Wildcats win five of seven games as she scored three goals and added four assists last month.
“Sadie Keller is a skilled forward who is creative offensively,” said Wildcats head coach Terry Pavely. “She sees the ice very well, helping create offensive opportunities for her teammates. She is a strong skater who uses her skating ability to her advantage. Sadie is an excellent teammate who is willing to play any role to help her team succeed. She loves being on the ice and brings a positive attitude to the rink on a daily basis.”
Keller finished second on the team with 14 goals and third with 26 points while skating in all 30 regular season games.
“Sadie’s work ethic has allowed her to show continual improvement in all aspects of her game. This season Sadie has demonstrated the ability to persevere and succeed when things are difficult,” Pavely added.
Regina Rebels centre Megan Hayhurst was named the second star with eight points in seven games in February. Prince Albert Northern Bears left wing Claudia Lammer was the third star with four points in the month.
Keller added three points in the Wildcats four-game series win over the Battlefords Sharks to open the playoffs. They will meet the Regina Rebels in the second round of the playoffs.
