Legionnaires finally solve Pat Canadians in overtime

The Swift Current Home Hardware Legionnaires finally solved the Regina Pat Canadians with a 3-2 overtime win on Thursday.

Carter Herman scored 1:04 into overtime as the Legionnaires defeated Regina for the first time in four attempts this season. The Legionnaires had lost the previous two meetings in overtime, including a 2-1 loss in Swift Current on Tuesday.

Josh Heistad scored twice for the Legionnaires in regulation. Liam Ernst earned the win with 27 saves. Bryant Linklater had two assists, while Herman, Eric Hoiness, Noah Mitchell, and Rowan Martin-Bryk all added singles.

Ben Riche and Koen Senft replied for Regina, while Kelton Pyne took the loss with 19 saves.

The Legionnaires improved to 15-16-0-5 in the Saskatchewan Male U18 AAA Hockey League, while the Pat Canadians fell to 23-10-0-4.

The Legionnaires will visit the Saskatoon Contacts on Sunday.
