Wildcats fill the net in Weyburn

The Swift Current Diamond Energy Wildcats returned to Saskatchewan Female Midget AAA Hockey League action with two blowout wins over the host Weyburn Wings as they near the completion of the regular season.

Saturday, the Wildcats fired 42 shots on goal in a 4-0 win. Taylor Lind led the way with two goals and an assist, while Chloe Smith had three assists. Autumn Nimegeers and Janessa Fournier also scored. Harper Davey earned her second shutout of the season with 20 saves.

Sunday, the Wildcats directed another 53 shots on goal in a 9-0 win. Amara Lewendon made 16 saves for her second shutout of the season. Lind paced the scoring barrage with three goals and two assists to regain the league scoring lead. Maddy McCleary followed with two goals and two assists. Smith added a goal and two assists and Carissa Hogan notched three assists.

Brynne Doerksen, Tenelle Lind, and Brooklyn Colborn each registered a goal and an assist. Nimegeers and Kenedee Klevgaard also added single assists.

The Wildcats improved to 10-10-0-6 in fifth place in the SFMAAAHL. They will conclude the regular season at home this weekend against the Battlefords Stars (5-19-1-1) on Saturday at 7:45 p.m. and Sunday at 1:15 p.m. at Fairview West Arena.
