Swift Current Innovation Credit Union Wildcats forward Kiana McNinch has been named the Saskatchewan Female U18 AAA Hockey League First Star for the month of December.
The Turtleford product registered two goals and six assists in six league games last month. She is tied for third in the league with 12 assists in 18 games and is tied for 10th with 16 points.
“Kiana is a hard-working player who never takes a shift off. She is relentless on pucks, and is continuously creating turnovers. She is reliable in all three zones. Kiana is gifted offensively, as she handles the puck well, has a strong shot, makes plays and protects the puck. She plays in all situations for the Wildcats and has made a seamless transition from the wing earlier in the season to centre,” noted the league announcement.
The first-year Wildcat has seven goals, 20 assists, and a +15 plus/minus rating in 32 games overall this season.
Battleford Sharks defenseman Ava Cole was named the second star, while Notre Dame Hounds forward Kaitlyn Gilroy was named the third star.
McNinch recently committed to the Mount Royal University Cougars for the 2022-23 season.
The Wildcats (10-7-2-0) will return to league action this weekend in Prince Albert.
