Broncos set to host Hurricanes tonight

The Swift Current Broncos will return to the ice tonight when they host the Lethbridge Hurricanes at 7 p.m.

The Broncos return from the holiday break with an 11-15-3-1 record in eighth place in the Eastern Conference, tied with Lethbridge (12-11-2-0) with 26 points. The Broncos won the only meeting on Nov. 6 by a 7-2 final score when Mathew Ward finished with two goals and two assists.

The Hurricanes feature Dinsmore’s Joe Arnsten, a 6’2.5” defenseman who has 10 points and 30 penalty minutes in 25 games during his third WHL season.

The two teams will rematch on Tuesday back in Lethbridge as the Broncos play four games in five days. They will also host the Winnipeg Ice on Thursday and the Regina Pats on New Years Eve.

Ward is leading the Broncos with 32 points in 30 games during his second season with the Broncos. Ward and linemate Josh Filmon are tied for the team lead with 12 goals each, followed by Raphael Pelletier with 10. Owen Pickering leads the defensemen with six goals and 19 points.

Overage goaltender Isaac Poulter has nine wins to goal along with a 3.04 goals against average and a .913 save percentage.
