Wildcats sign with post-secondary teams

Five members of the Swift Current Innovation Credit Union Wildcats have signed with university and college teams in recent weeks.

Kincaid’s Jessica Bouffard has committed to Red Deer Polytechnic for the 2022-23 season. The third-year defenseman has seven assists in 19 games in the Saskatchewan Female U18 AAA Hockey League this season. She has two goals and 11 assists in 54 career regular season games.

Wildcats forward Samantha Thompson will be suiting up for her hometown University of Regina Cougars next season. Thompson is currently tied for second in the league with 12 assists and is second in Wildcats scoring this season with 16 points in 19 games. The Regina native began her career with the now defunct Melville Prairie Fire before joining the Wildcats. She has eight goals and 30 assists in 54 games with the Wildcats.

Defenseman Shelby Rublee will also be joining the University of Regina Cougars next season. The fourth-year Wildcat has one goal and three assists in 17 games this season. The Kindersley product is a veteran of 80 SFU18AAAHL regular season games with the Wildcats and seven playoff games back in 2018-19.

The next to commit was first-year Wildcat Kiana McNinch, who will be headed to Mount Royal University. McNinch is also tied for second in the league with 12 assists and is tied for 10th in league scoring with 16 points in 18 games. She began her SFU18AAAHL career with the Battlefords Sharks and played last season in Lloydminster. She now has 22 goals and 29 assists in 76 regular season games in the league. She will be joining current Wildcats captain Ava Metzger with the Cougars.

Third-year forward Laiken Swan has committed to the Lakeland College Rustlers for the 2022-23 season. She has six goals and seven assists in 19 games this season. The Plenty native has nine goals and 19 assists in 53 regular season games in the SFU18AAAHL.
