On the November 5-6 volleyball weekend, Fox Valley, Hazlet, Frontier and Kincaid were at the Hazlet hosted SHSAA 1A girls conference playoffs. Fox Valley girls easily advanced to Regionals (they had a perfect 3-0 record at conferences). Fox Valley will host the 1A West Regional competition on November 13. It was an all SWAC match up in the last game, Hazlet and Frontier battled for the final qualifying spot in the regional tournament. It was a very close match, but Frontier came out on top (25-19, 25-21) and will also advance to Regionals.
Maple Creek girls hosted a 3A conference tournament. Shaunavon was one of the teams competing, but they didn’t finish the top three qualifying spots. Just a friendly reminder that all SHSAA Conference, Regional and Provincial tournaments have a paid gate. The funds raised go to pay officials, purchase awards, and run high school sport championships across the province.
Tentative plans are being formed for SWAC and SHSAA winter sports (basketball, curling and wrestling). Curling start date was November 8 and Basketball/Wrestling can begin on November 22.
