Wildcats working towards regular season form

The Swift Current Innovation Credit Union Wildcats finished unbeaten in two outings at their League Showcase over the weekend.

Saturday, the Wildcats defeated the Battlefords Sharks 2-0 to open the League Showcase. Aurora Van Wormer made 13 saves in the shutout. Paris Appel scored in the first period and Samantha Thompson added a shorthanded goal in the middle stanza. Addison Eurich, Gracie Georget, and Kylee Hansen all added assists.

Sunday, Wildcats tied the Saskatoon Stars 2-2 when Sage Babey scored a shorthanded goal for the Stars late in regulation to even the score.

Jessica Bouffard led the Wildcats with a power play goal and an assist. Laiken Swan also scored, while Keller and Ava Metzger added assists.

Karlee Lehner made 17 saves for the Wildcats, while Tora Ward stopped 27 of 29 shots for the Stars.

The Wildcats will open the regular season on the road next weekend with two games against the Battlefords Sharks. Their home opener will be Oct. 20 against the Regina Rebels at 8 p.m. at Fairview West Arena.
