Swift Current’s Ryan McCleary scored his first Western Hockey League goal on Sunday.
Playing in his fifth WHL game, McCleary scored on a point shot midway through the second period of a 7-4 win over the Seattle Thunderbirds.
The rookie defenseman finished the game with three shots on goal and a plus-three rating. The 6’2’’ blueliner now has one goal and one assist and a plus-six rating in five games this season.
The Winterhawks are second in the U.S. Division with a 3-1-2-0 record. They will host the Tri-City Americans on Friday and visit the Everett Silvertips on Saturday.
