The Swift Current Home Hardware Legionnaires missed a chance to upset the league leading Regina Pat Canadians Tuesday.
The Legionnaires held the lead twice but allowed three unanswered goals in the third period to lose 4-2 to the visiting Pat Canadians Tuesday.
Owen Ozar had scored the only goal of the first period for a 1-0 lead. Lukas Sillinger tied the game for Regina but Hunter Lamb deflected home a point shot for a 2-1 Swift Current lead after two periods.
The Pat Canadians tied the game with a Randen Schmidt power play goal early in the their period and Sillinger netted the game winner with 2:41 remaining in regulation before Ben Solomon touched the puck last for an empty net goal.
Nathan More got the win with 18 saves on 20 shots. Cody Levesque took the loss with 26 saves for the Legionnaires.
Christian Riemer, Ethan Regnier, Kersey Reich, and Jevon Schwean all added assists for the Legionnaires.
The Pat Canadians improved to 31-3-0-2, six points ahead of the next closest competitor in the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League standings. The Legionnaires dropped to 13-20-0-4 and remain in 11th place, but they are only three points back of the sixth place team with seven games still remaining in the regular season.
The Legionnaires will be in Wilcox on Friday to visit the last place Notre Dame Hounds.
