The U18 AAA seasons for the Swift Current Innovation Credit Union Wildcats and Home Hardware Legionnaires appear to be over.

The Saskatchewan Female U18 AAA Hockey League and Saskatchewan Male U18 AAA Hockey League announced on Thursday that the 2020-21 season would be postponed indefinitely, effectively immediately.

“Due to the ongoing pandemic and health restrictions, the SFU18AAAHL and SMU18AAAHL league schedules will be postponed indefinitely. If public health measures allow for a return to game play at any time, the Executive of each League will meet and review game play options for any teams that wish to continue,” said the motion, which was passed unanimously by the Governors of each league.

Teams in both leagues will be allowed to continue to do the following:

  • Postpone all local team activities or continue with a team roster skill directed program.
  • Provide the option for players to return home if they so choose.
  • Provide billets the option to continue hosting players if they so choose.

“We can assure members of both the SFU18AAAHL and SMU18AAAHL that this decision was made in the best interest of the players, billets, and team staff,” concluded the statement.

The Legionnaires sat fourth in the SMU18AAAHL South Division with a 3-3-0-0 record. The Wildcats were fourth in the SFU18AAAHL with a 2-2-0-1 record.
