Five local golfers took part in the MJT / Golf Saskatchewan OOM Series event at the Elmwood Golf Club in Swift Current over the weekend.
Swift Current’s Ethan Fizell was tied for seventh in the Juvenile Boys Division after one day. He shot a 77 on Saturday to sit seven shots back of the lead. Fizell carded an 82 on day two to place eighth.
Swift Current’s Gaige Calkins was 10th in the Juvenile Boys Division after day one with an 81 on Saturday. He repeated his 81 on Sunday to finish tied for 11th.
Gravelbourg’s Vincent Pinsonneault rounded out the Southwest trio with a 17th-place finish in Juvenile Boys. He shot a 91 on day one and a 90 on day two.
Also of note, Swift Current Broncos forward Cole Nagy (Saskatoon) tied for ninth in the Juvenile Boys Division. He was eighth with an opening round 79 on day one. Nagy followed up with an 81 on day two. His twin brother, Josh, won the event by one stroke with rounds of 70 and 75.
Swift Current’s Ryder Woods placed 13th in the Bantam Boys Division. He sat 13th after day one with an opening round 99. Woods improved to a 95 on Sunday.
Swift Current’s Ty Switzer was right behind him in 14th in the Bantam Boys Division. He was ninth after a round of 93 on Saturday. Switzer carded a 103 on Sunday.
The Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour will make a stop in Regina at Tor Hill Golf Club on July 6-7.
