A pair of former Swift Current Broncos are on track to hear their names called at the 2020 NHL Draft.

Both Kasper Puutio and Ben King were listed on the NHL Central Scouting final rankings, which were released on Wednesday.

Puutio was ranked 76th amongst North American skaters. The 5’11’’ defenseman was selected first overall by the Broncos in the CHL Import Draft last year.

Puutio registered one goal and 15 assists in 35 games with the Broncos before being traded to the Everett Silvertips in a deal that returned a first round pick in this year’s bantam draft. The native of Vaasa, Finland added 12 points and a plus-13 rating in 21 games with the Silvertips.

Ben King was ranked 121st amongst North American skaters. King was drafted 13th overall in the 2017 WHL Bantam Draft by the Broncos. The Vernon, BC native put up 26 points in 48 games as a 16-year-old rookie. This season, the 6’2’’ forward opened the season with eight points in 16 games with the Broncos. He was traded to Red Deer and added 38 points in 46 games.

The 2020 NHL Draft is currently slated for June 26-27 at the Bell Centre in Montreal.
