SCCHS athletes win six medals at wrestling and curling provincials

It was a memorable day for the Swift Current Comprehensive High School as wrestlers and curlers combined to win six medals at Provincials in three different locations.

The SCCHS wrestling team won four medals at Provincials. Luke Nelson won provincials for a second straight year, this time in the male 77kg division. Nelson defeated Saskatoon’s William Yanko in the championship match at Mount Royal Collegiate.

Chaz Vanderdort picked up a silver medal in the male 41kg division.

Noah Steinley added a bronze medal in the male 130kg division.

Ally Metke led the Ardens team with a third-place finish in the 44kg division.

The SCCHS Colts tied for fifth amongst 5A Boys teams with 27 points.

The SCCHS boys curling team won silver at provincials in Meadow Lake. They finished with a 2-1 record in the round robin and then defeated Martensville 5-4 in the semi-final.

The SCCHS boys lost the championship game 6-5 to Foam Lake.

The SCCHS mixed curling team also won silver in Spiritwood. They placed second in the round robin with a 2-1 record. They defeated Quill Lake 4-2 in the semi-final.

The SCCHS mixed team faced the host Spiritwood team in the final and lost 8-4.
