On January 11, 2020, the Swift Current Municipal RCMP began an investigation into a garage break and enter where firearms were stolen. Through the investigation, police from both Swift Current and Maple Creek Detachments have executed two search warrants and have recovered a number of the firearms that were stolen and have laid the following charges:
23-year-old Donny GURNEY from Swift Current (released on bail conditions – next appearance is March 4, 2020):
- Possession of a firearm for the purpose of trafficking;
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm;
- Possession of stolen property;
- Trafficking in stolen property.
21-year-old Cody HAMMER from Swift Current (released on bail conditions – next appearance is March 11, 2020):
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm;
- Possession of prohibited firearm;
- Possession of a firearm knowing it was obtained by crime;
- Unsafe storage of a firearm;
- Tamper with a serial number on a firearm;
- Possession of a firearm for the purpose of trafficking;
- Possession of stolen property;
- Trafficking in stolen property.
48-year-old Christopher FOSTER from Swift Current (in custody on other matters and next appearance is March 18, 2020):
- Possession of a firearm contrary to an Order;
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm;
- Trafficking in stolen property;
- Possession of stolen property;
- Possession of a firearm for the purpose of trafficking.
40-year-old Tyrone STANLEY of Maple Creek (remanded into custody – next appearance is March 4, 2020):
- Possession of a firearm contrary to an Order;
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm;
- Trafficking in stolen property;
- Possession of stolen property;
- Possession of a firearm for the purpose of trafficking.
