The Swift Current Home Hardware Legionnaires were blanked 6-0 by the host Regina Pat Canadians to open the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League playoffs on Thursday.
The first-place Pat Canadians got 13 saves from Jared Thompson and two-goal outings from Carson Whyte and Brendan Holba. Zach Cain and Josh Romanyk also scored.
Jacob Herman took the loss with 20 saves on 25 shots over 40 minutes. Justin Dueck made six saves on seven shots over one period of work.
The best-of-five series will shift to Swift Current on Friday at 8 p.m. at the Innovation Credit Union iplex.
