Swift Current’s Kalea Sauder placed fifth in the Women’s Pentathlon at the Canada West Track and Field Championship in Saskatoon on Friday.
The University of Saskatchewan Huskies rookie athlete had a steady performance throughout the day, never finishing below sixth in any of the five events.
Her best result came in the long jump in fourth spot with a top effort of 5.30 metres. She placed fifth in the high jump by clearing the bar at 1.53 metres. Sauder also placed fifth in the 800 metres in 2:36.15.
She placed sixth in the 60 metre hurdles (9.39 seconds) and the shot put (9.72 metres).
The Huskies won the Canada West women’s team title for a third straight year.
Leader’s Jackson Sitter, a rookie with the University of Saskatchewan Huskies, placed 12th in the triple jump with 12.59-metre top jump.
