The Swift Current Broncos made another change to their overage situation on Saturday when they signed forward Hayden Ostir. The Broncos also placed overage forward Ethan O’Rourke on WHL waivers to open up a spot for Ostir.
Ostir is a Winnipeg product who has suited up in 195 Western Hockey League games, registering 29 goals and 41 assists with the Spokane Chiefs and Medicine Hat Tigers. He was the 36th overall pick in the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft.
Last season, the 6’, 195-pound Ostir posted 11 goals and 11 assists in 49 games with the Tigers before scoring twice in six playoff games.
O’Rourke has appeared in 73 games with the Broncos over the past two seasons, registering 12 goals, 10 assists, and 37 penalty minutes. He had one goal and one assist in six games to start the 2019-20 season.
Ostir joins defenseman Jake Kustra and goaltender Reece Klassen as the Broncos three overage players. He is expected to join the Broncos on Monday.
