The Swift Current Diamond Energy Wildcats swept the two-time defending Saskatchewan Female Midget AAA League champion Saskatoon Stars this weekend.
Friday, the Wildcats got 20 saves from Cheyenne Jamieson and won the special teams battle decisively in a 4-0 win over the visiting Stars.
The Wildcats finished three-for-eight on the power play and killed off nine shorthanded situations as Jamieson earned the shutout in her Wildcats regular season debut.
Sara Kendall led the Wildcats with two goals and one assist, while Ryleigh White and Baylee Kirwan added a goal and an assist each. Crystal Wale, Maddy McCleary, and Brooklyn Rublee all added assists.
Saturday, the Wildcats fired 31 shots on net in a 3-1 win over the Stars. Amaya Giraudier improved to 2-0 with 17 saves.
McCleary, Samantha Thompson, and Brooklyn Rublee all scored. Kendall and Ashlee Wolfe each assisted in two goals, while Rublee and Kenedee Klevgaard added single helpers.
Reuna Blight scored the lone goal for the Stars, who got 28 saves from Kaitlyn Cadrain.
The Wildcats will look to add a third win on the weekend with they host the Regina Rebels on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. at Fairview West Arena.
