The Swift Current United Soccer Club had two teams in Saskatoon for the Harder Avalon Classic over the weekend.
The U17 United Girls finished with a 3-1-1 record to win silver in the U17/19 Division.
They opened the tournament on Friday with a 2-0 win over Saskatoon’s Aurora Eclipse.
They followed up on Saturday morning with a 1-0 win over Saskatoon’s SUSC Spartans. Kaitlyn Berggren scored the lone goal from the penalty spot, while Jasmine Temoshawsky earned another shutout in goal.
The U17 girls concluded the round robin with a 0-0 draw against Saskatoon Hollandia.
Sunday, Swift Current advanced to the final with a 6-0 win over the Eclipse.
The U17 United Girls faced the host Aurora Majestic in the championship match and lost 2-0 to bring home silver.
The Border Creek United U13 Girls, featuring players from Swift Current and Lloydminster, won gold with four straight wins.
They opened the tournament with a 3-1 win over Saskatoon’s Lakewood Fusion.
They followed up with a 13-0 win over the Aurora Dynamite.
Border Creek United advanced to the championship match with a 2-1 shootout win over Native Sons on Sunday morning.
They faced Regina’s QC United in the championship match and won 2-0 to claim gold.
United Soccer Club teams will be in Regina this weekend for the QC Challenge Cup.
