Three Swift Current United Soccer Club teams were in Saskatoon over the weekend for the Saskatchewan Soccer Association Soccer For Life Provincial Indoor Soccer Championships.
The U17 United Girls won all five matches to win the provincial title.
They opened the tournament with a convincing 7-2 win over Saskatoon Hollandia on Friday. They added a 5-2 victory over Saskatoon’s SUSC Spartans Black later that evening.
They wrapped up a perfect round robin with a 3-1 win over SUSC Spartans Red on Saturday evening.
The U17 Girls, coached by Tim Temoshawsky, Donna Anderson, and Heidi Huxted Berggren shutout the Moose Jaw Storm 4-0 in the semi-final on Sunday morning.
They scored two unanswered goals in the second half to defeat SUSC Spartans Black 3-1 in the championship match. MJ Anderson, Jaycee Berggren, and Tenille Willows all scored, while Juliana Whalen earned the win in goal.
The U17 Boys won their opening three matches to reach the playoffs at Provincials.
They opened the tournament with a 7-2 win over Melfort International on Friday evening.
The U17 Boys followed up with a 4-0 win over Prince Albert Celtic on Saturday. They topped their group with a 3-2 win over Saskatoon SUSC Nitro.
Swift Current was eliminated with a 3-0 loss to Yorkton United FC in the semi-final on Sunday. They were the recipients of the Fair Play Award for their behaviour throughout the tournament.
The U15 Border Creek United Boys team featured players from Swift Current and Lloydminster as they advanced to the playoffs at Provincials.
They opened the tournament with a 5-3 win over Melfort International. They added a 7-2 win over QC United on Saturday. Border Creek United tied Yorkton United FC 3-3 later that day.
The two teams rematched in Sunday’s semi-final and Yorkton won 4-2 to eliminate the United boys.
