Wildcats extend winning streak to six games

The Swift Current Diamond Energy Wildcats added a pair of wins over the Battlefords Sharks over the weekend as their Saskatchewan Female Midget AAA Hockey League winning streak reached six games.

Saturday, the Wildcats scored five of the final seven goals to defeat the Sharks 7-3 in Gull Lake during Hockey Day in Saskatchewan.

Taylor Lind continued her torrid scoring pace with two goals and two assists, while Sara Kendall continued to climb the scoring leaders with three assists. Carissa Hogan scored twice, while Brooklyn Rublee added a goal and an assist. Ashlee Wolfe and Kate Wagner also scored. Crystal Wale, Ryleigh White, Madison Garrett, and Layne Hryhoriw all added assists.

Amaya Giraudier earned the win with 34 saves on 37 shots.

Sunday, the Wildcats scored the final three goals, including the winner from Hogan, in a 4-3 overtime win.

Lind finished with two goals and one assist, while Hogan had an assist during a two-point outing.

Sara Kendall also scored, while Kamryn Johnson, Baylee Kirwan, and Ashlee Wolfe all added assists.

Harper Davey earned the win with 27 saves. Yelena Zaleschuk made 33 saves for the Sharks.

Lind had her sixth consecutive multi-point outing with 20 points over that span. She leads the league with 28 assists and 47 points in 22 games. The Shaunavon native has also moved into third all-time in league scoring with 157 points in 77 games.

The Wildcats finished the weekend with a 12-9-0-1 record in fourth spot in the eight-team SFMAAAHL.

The Wildcats are on the road for two games next weekend against the last place Weyburn Wings.
