The sporting calendar in the Southwest remains quiet this week, but things will be heating up in Shaunavon as the Shaunavon Curling Club hosts the 2018-19 Viterra Women’s Last Chance Qualifier on Jan. 4-6.
12 rinks will take part in the double knockout event that will advance two teams to the Viterra Scotties Tournament of Hearts Provincial Championship at the Humboldt Curling Club on January 22-27.
One local rink will be in action this weekend. Skip Wendy Thienes will be joined by Bobbi Fuller, Della Moffat, and Shelley Rhodes.
Rinks from Regina, Saskatoon, Weyburn, Carlyle, Biggar, Estevan, Balgonie, and Kronau will also be chasing the top two spots in Shaunavon.
