The Swift Current Diamond Energy Wildcats returned to Saskatchewan Female Midget AAA Hockey League action with a weekend split against the visiting Regina Rebels.
Saturday, the Wildcats lost 4-3 to the Rebels. They led 2-1 after one period, trailed 3-2 after two periods, before each team scored in the third period.
Brynne Doerksen, Taylor Lind, and Kate Wagner all scored in the loss with assists from Sara Kendall and Carissa Hogan.
Amaya Giraudier took the loss with 26 saves on 30 shots.
Hanna Bailey led the Rebels with two goals and one assist, while Shaeleyn Myers and Neena Brick also scored. Chantel Weller earned the win with 24 saves on 27 shots.
Sunday, the Wildcats scored the first five goals in a 5-2 win over the Rebels. Brooklyn Rublee led the way with a hat trick, while Sara Kendall and Crystal Wale also scored. Taylor Lind, Trista Labarowski, Ashlee Wolfe, and Wagner added a pair of assists each. Madison Garrett added a single helper. Harper Davey earned the win with 41 saves.
Tavia Terry and Allee Gerrard replied with late goals for the Rebels, who finished the weekend in second spot in the SFMAAAHL with an 8-2-1-0 record.
The Wildcats (3-4-0-1) will be on the road this weekend to visit the Prince Albert Bears (4-4-1-1).
