The Swift Current Broncos dealt their longest tenured player on Wednesday to clear up their overage and import situations.
The Broncos dealt Russian defenseman Artyom Minulin and an eighth round pick in the 2021 WHL Bantam Draft to the Everett Silvertips in exchange for defenseman Alex Moar.
Moar, a 5’9’’, 165-pound Prince Albert product, has appeared in four games with the Silvertips in his first WHL season. He posted 46 points in 74 Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League games and added nine points in nine playoff games last season.
Minulin played in 240 games with the Broncos over three seasons. He registered 126 points and a plus-66 rating in 206 regular season games and added 15 points in 34 career playoff contests.
“We would like to thank Arty for all his contributions to the team and the community,” said Head Coach & Director of Hockey Operations Dean Brockman. “He was a great player for our organization and wish him all the best. We’re excited to work with Alex and think he can be a very good player for us now and into the future.”
The move leaves the Broncos with nine defenseman, but does get the team down to the maximum three overage and two import players.
Moar is expected to be in Swift Current for Friday’s game against the Lethbridge Hurricanes when the Broncos will wear their ‘Bronco Strong’ jerseys.
