The Swift Current Diamond Energy Wildcats were in Regina over the weekend in search of their first win of the Saskatchewan Female Midget AAA Hockey League regular season.
Saturday, the Wildcats earned a single point in a 2-1 shootout loss to the host Rebels.
Larissa Bohlken scored in the first period for the Rebels. Sara Kendall replied with a power play goal in the second period with assists from Baylee Kirwan and Taylor Lind.
All three Wildcats were stopped in the shootout, while Lauren Focht scored for the Rebels.
Amaya Giraudier took the loss with 31 saves. Chantel Weller earned the win with 24 saves on 25 shots.
Sunday, the Wildcats scored four goals on 17 shots to pick up their first win of the regular season. The Wildcats got goals from four different skaters, three of them in the third period, to defeat the Rebels 4-1.
Ashlee Wolfe, Carissa Hogan, Ryleigh White, and Kirwan all scored in the win. Giraudier earned the victory with 26 saves on 27 shots. Lind added a pair of assists, followed by singles from Wolfe, Hogan, and Layne Hryhoriw.
Weller suffered the loss with 13 saves, while Tavia Terry scored the Rebels’ only goal.
The Wildcats (1-2-0-1) are out on the road on Thursday to visit the Notre Dame Hounds. They will host the Hounds on Saturday at 7:45 p.m. at Fairview West Arena.
