Southwest competitors had their hands full at the 32nd annual Herbert Stampede on August 3-5 at one of the top paying Canadian Cowboys Association rodeos of the season.
Maple Creek’s Logan Resch led the Southwest with a win in Junior Girls Barrel Racing in 15.55 seconds for $365. Resch sat second in the event season standings, trailing only Maple Creek’s Janae Wilson for top spot.
Maple Creek’s Blake Link also won his event when he topped Novice Bareback with a 49-point ride for $385.
Kyle’s Chad Hantelman tied for second in Steer Wrestling in 4.3 seconds for $932. Waldeck’s Tee McLeod tied for fourth in 4.4 seconds for $630.
Cadillac’s Brooke Lang placed fourth in Ladies Barrel Racing in 15.45 seconds for $1,008. Mankota’s Bailey Briere tied for fifth in 15.48 seconds for $684.
Maple Creek’s Brady Bertram finished fourth in Bareback after a 75-point ride on Lacadena Sunrise for $453.
Mankota’s Shawn Williamson led the Southwest in Tie Down Roping in fourth spot in 9.3 seconds for $718. Waldeck’s Tuftin McLeod was sixth in 9.6 seconds for $410.
Piapot’s Casey Bertram was the lone Southwest cowboy in the money in Saddle Bronc when he placed fifth with a 74-point ride on It Depends for $372.
Maple Creek’s James Perrin finished tied for sixth in Junior Steer Riding with 68 points for $33.
Shamrock’s Kevin Turner was the lone Southwest cowboy in the Team Roping pay window. He worked with Kyle Chappel (Gravelbourg) to place seventh in 10.6 seconds for $657.
There are seven Canadian Cowboys Association rodeos this week, including the Kyle Community Rodeo on Saturday and Sunday.
