Some familiar Southwest names were at the top of the standings at a Canadian Cowboys Association Rodeo in Pilot Butte on June 15-17.
Waldeck’s McLeod family led the way in Team Roping. Tuftin and Tyce won the event in 5.2 seconds for $1,706. Tee and Scott were third in 6.1 seconds for $1,118.
Three Maple Creek cowgirls swept the top three spots in Junior Girls Barrel Racing. Janae Wilson won the event in 15.09 seconds for $324. Logan Resch placed second in 15.11 seconds for $243. Lily Wilson was third in 15.19 seconds for $162.
The Southwest also had three cowboys in the pay window in Steer Wrestling in Pilot Butte. Maple Creek’s Brady Resch placed second in 4.7 seconds for $600. Tee McLeod was fourth in 5.3 seconds for $350 and Kyle’s Chad Hantelman was tied for fifth in 5.6 seconds for $175.
The Mankota cowgirls were also in the money in Ladies Barrel Racing in Pilot Butte. Kassidy Williamson was third in 14.84 seconds for $821. Karli Cowie followed in fifth spot in 14.91 seconds for $531. April Williamson rounded out the trio in seventh in 14.96 seconds for $241.
Mankota’s Shawn Williamson placed sixth in Tie Down Roping in 12.1 seconds for $103.
The CCA will be in Swift Current for the Frontier Days Rodeo on June 29-July 1.
