The Colorado Avalanche announced Thursday that they have signed Swift Current Broncos defenseman Josh Anderson to a three-year entry-level contract.
Anderson, 19, was acquired ahead of the Western Hockey League trade deadline from the Prince George Cougars on Jan. 7 for first round picks in 2018 and 2019.
The 6’3”, 220-pound blueliner has 35 points and 289 penalty minutes in 206 regular season WHL games, including seven points and a plus-eight rating in 29 games after joining the Broncos.
Anderson, a native of Duncan BC, has one assist in four playoff games agains the Regina Pats so far this post-season.
He was drafted by the Avalanche in the third round, 71st overall, in the 2016 NHL Draft.
