The Swift Current Abbey Resources Broncos were unable to close out the best-of-five South Saskatchewan Midget AA Hockey League quarter-final series against the Estevan Bruins Friday.
Home ice advantage continued to be the difference as the host Bruins won game three 3-1 to fend off playoff elimination after the Broncos had won the first two games at home.
The Broncos fired 45 shots on goal but were only able to beat Bryson Garton once for a Matthew Christianson goal in the first period to tie the game 1-1. Quinn Patenaude and Ryland Hornung picked up assists.
Kyler Gervais, Dawson Schaff, and Jaiden Gervais all scored for the Bruins to keep their season alive.
Game four will be Saturday in Estevan. Game five, if necessary, will be Tuesday back in Swift Current at 7:45 p.m. at Fairview West Arena.
