The Swift Current Diamond Energy Wildcats dropped a pair of road contests to the Saskatchewan Female Midget AAA Hockey League leading Saskatoon Stars to conclude the regular season over the weekend.
Saturday, the Wildcats trailed for 59:36 in a 5-2 loss to the host Saskatoon Stars. Taylor Lind had a goal and an assist in a losing cause. Trista Labarowski also scored on the power play, while Taylor Kirwan added an assist.
Sunday, the Wildcats lost 4-1 to conclude the regular season. Taylor Lind scored a shorthanded goal to open the scoring. Kaitlin Jockims, Anna Leschyshyn, Mackenna Parker and Joelle Fiala replied for the Stars, who won the regular season title with a 21-3-3-1 record.
The Wildcats concluded the regular season with a 12-11-1-4 record in fifth place out of eight teams. Taylor Lind finished third in league scoring with 52 points in 27 games.
The Wildcats will face the Regina Rebels in the opening round of the playoffs, the fourth time in the past five seasons the Highway #1 rivals have met in the post-season.
