Brad Wall has submitted his resignation as Swift Current MLA effective January 31 as he officially completes a transition out of provincial politics.
Premier Wall will chair his final cabinet meeting and government caucus meeting today in one of his last days as Saskatchewan Premier.
A new Saskatchewan Party leader will be selected during a SaskParty Leadership Convention on Saturday, and the winner will be sworn in as Saskatchewan’s 15th Premier a few days later.
In a press release announcing his resignation timing, Wall noted it will be tough to say goodbye to his cabinet and caucus colleagues today.
“It will be a little sad, but at the same time, I’m feeling pretty good about what we have accomplished together and about the future of our province,” Wall stated.
“There is a sign over the cabinet room door that says ‘Did you leave things better than you found them?’ It’s a reminder to all of us of what we should be trying to achieve in public life.”
