Thomas DeBonville homered to lead-off game three of the best-of-five Eastern Division semi-final series and the Swift Current 57’s never looked back in an 8-4 win to take a two games to one series lead.
The 57’s took control of the game with a six-run third inning, beginning with another lead-off home run from DeBonville. Bodie Cooper followed with a two-run home run. Designated hitter Mason Brown added a RBI double, followed by a RBI single from Nick Canas and a RBI double from Cole Thibodeau.
The Miller Express clawed back in to the game with four runs in the fifth inning led by solo home runs from Grant Westmoreland and Adam Cooke.
Starter Matt Michalski allowed seven hits, one walk, and four runs, while striking out eight over 4.2 innings.
Sean Chandler helped lock down the win with 2.2 scoreless innings before Keil Krumwiede closed things out.
Moose Jaw starter Bo Sheridan lasted only 2.2 innings, allowing seven hits, four walks, and seven runs, four that were earned.
Game four will be Friday evening in Moose Jaw. Game five, if necessary, will be Saturday back in Swift Current.
