On July 26, 2026 at approximately 6 p.m., Morse RCMP received a report of a fire at the Morse RCMP detachment.
No one was in the detachment at the time of the fire and no injuries have been reported.
The detachment was destroyed by the fire.
Fire investigators with the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency will be attending the scene today to work toward determining the cause and origin of the fire. At this stage in the investigation, it is not believed the fire is suspicious in nature.
“Saskatchewan RCMP sincerely thanks the Morse Fire Department and the many community members who came together and worked so hard through the evening to fight the fire,” says Insp. Jill McLaren, Saskatchewan RCMP South District Operations Officer. “We’ve lost the detachment but this does not change our commitment to keeping the communities in the detachment area safe. Saskatchewan RCMP does regular contingency planning, which helps us maintain police service during unexpected events, like this fire.”
Morse RCMP will continue to police communities in the detachment area, with the ongoing support of Swift Current Rural RCMP detachment.
Anyone requiring non-emergency police service in the Morse area should call 310-RCMP. In an emergency, always call 911.
For the time being residents requiring criminal records checks or other in-detachment services are asked to visit the Swift Current Rural RCMP detachment at 50 George Street in Swift Current.
