Williamson tops roping event at Frontier Days Rodeo

Three Southwest competitors won events at the Frontier Days Rodeo in Swift Current on June 25-27.

Mankota’s Kiera Williamson won Ladies Breakaway Roping in 2.8 seconds for $1,531. Maple Creek’s Olivia Parsonage and Kate Beierbach both tied for sixth in 3.9 seconds for $432. Eastend’s Tiara Armstrong rounded out the Southwest contingent in the money in eighth spot in 4.0 seconds for $133. 

Maple Creek’s Zack Moorhead also won Junior Steer Riding with 72 points for $414. Paden Robertson, also riding out of Maple Creek, was fourth with 67 points for $103.

Maple Creek’s Dayton Cronkhite topped Novice Saddle Bronc with 64 points on Ozempic Nick for $414. Kyle’s Trigg Pittman was third with 62 points on Snappy Appy for $206. Eastend’s Joe Vansandt placed fourth with 61 points to earn $103.

Leader’s Davis Young placed second in Bull Riding with 73.5 points aboard Dust Control  to collect $940. Jace Beierbach (Whitewood) won the event with 81 points on Arena Police.

Stewart Valley’s Janet-Lynn Moen placed second in Ladies Barrel Racing in 17.80 seconds for $1,422 with the first run of the rodeo. The only cowgirl that was faster was Unity’s Kaybree Zunti in 16.93 seconds. Mankota’s April Williamson tied for fourth in 17.18 seconds for $888.

Stewart Valley’s Austynn Knudsen was second in Junior Girls Barrel Racing in 17.13 seconds for $351. Leader’s Josie Young was right behind her in third in 17.2 seconds for $234.

Waldeck’s Scott McLeod and Swift Current’s Chad Feil placed third in Team Roping in 7.4 seconds for $1,778. Mankota’s Shawn Williamson and Bill Phipps (Marshall) were fourth in 8.3 seconds for $1,310. Hazenmore’s Ben Switzer and Tanner Lockie (Balgonie) finished fifth in 9.9 seconds for $842. Val Marie’s Colt Kornfeld and Kade Christianson (Nanton, AB) were sixth in 12.5 seconds for $468. Dawson and AJ Jackson (Delisle) won the event in 5.9 seconds.

The CCA is in Bengough, Weyburn, and Carnduff this weekend.
