The Swift Current Broncos snapped a 13-game losing streak with a 4-3 overtime win over the host Saskatoon Blades on Friday.
Sawyer Dingman knocked home the overtime winner 3:14 into the extra frame for his 13th goal of the season. The Broncos has lost six of those 13 games after regulation until Dingman’s winning goal.
The Broncos had trailed 3-1 in the third period before Hudson Darby cut the lead in half with a diving backhanded goal that he batted home for his 18th goal. Hyde Davidson tied the game with 1:45 remaining in regulation when he converted a ling rebound on the power play.
Gull Lake’s Berney Weston made 29 saves for his first win in his second Western Hockey League game. Evan Gardner took the loss with 13 saves for the Blades.
Carter Moen had scored 32 seconds into regulation to open the scoring for the Broncos.
Rowan Calvert, Hunter Laing, and Cooper Williams scored the next there goals of the Blades.
The Broncos improved to 14-42-4-5, while Saskatoon fell to 32-25-5-2.
The two teams will rematch on Saturday in Swift Current.
Broncos Bits: Weston spent the season with the Fort McMurray Oil Barons in the AJHL with a 4-2-0 record.
