The Swift Hockey Co. Wildcats upset the Regina Rebels Black in the playoffs to reach the Saskatchewan U15 AA Hockey League South Final.
The Wildcats lost game one 4-2 to the host Rebels Black on Thursday.
Avairy Hein made 39 saves in the loss. Hope Hunter had a goal and an assist, while Brielle Schneider added two assists. Hallie Watteyne also scored. Makenna Fox added one assist.
Brooklyn Krupski, Lexa Sych, Leah Thacyk, and Sadie Dutchak scored for Regina.
The Wildcats responded with a 2-1 win at home on Saturday. Ellie Weinbender and Kysa Getzinger scored with assists from Hunter, Schneider, and Rya Getzinger. Hein made 24 saves on 25 shots in the win.
Sunday, the U15 Wildcats won game three 2-1 in Regina to advance to the third round of the playoffs. Hunter scored the winning goal with 23 seconds remaining in regulation.
Kysa Getzinger had scored the opening goal before Payton Krupski tied the game for Regina. Brooklyn Masse and Watteyne picked up assists for the Wildcats. Hein made 26 saves in the win.
The fifth seeded Wildcats will now face the top seeded Regina Rebels White in the South Final.
