Legionnaires split weekend road trip

The Swift Current Home Hardware Legionnaires split a weekend road trip in the Saskatchewan Male AAA Hockey League.

Saturday, the Legionnaires returned to the win column with a 7-1 win over the host Battlefords Stars. 

Josh Benjamin made 30 saves on 31 shots. Luke Norman took the loss with 36 saves on 43 shots. 

Mason Fauser led the Legionnaires with two goals and three assists. Jake Hargrave, Kasey Gleim, Kyler Bilokreli, and Porter Nickason all had a goal and an assist. Trae Peterson also scored. Hunter Wilm registered two assists, while Riley Schmiess and Jaxson Squires added single helpers. 

Sunday, the Legionnaires allowed the opening five goals in a 7-4 loss in the rematch. 

Cade Mitchell made 38 saves in the loss. Cody Marciniuk made 32 saves for the Stars, who got two-goal efforts from Nash Coquet, Noah Larre, and Kobi Weber. 

Wilm had a hat trick for the Legionnaires. Peterson added a goal and an assist, while Gleim registered two assists. 

The Legionnaires fell to 14-5-2-0, while the Stars improved to 10-6-2-1.
