Broncos announce leadership group

Swift Current’s Hudson Darby will captain his hometown team after being named the 36th captain in Swift Current Broncos history.

Marek Rocak, Tony Wilson, and Josh McGregor will serve as assistant captains this season.

Darby is a veteran of 132 regular season games over parts of four Western Hockey League seasons. He has six goals and five assists in 14 games with the Broncos after being acquired in a trade from the Portland Winterhawks, who drafted him in the fifth round in 2021.

Wilson is also a home-grown player in his first season with the Broncos. The overage forward has five goals and six assists in 11 games in Swift Current. He is a veteran of 250 WHL games with the Victoria Royals, Brandon Wheat Kings, Regina Pats, Lethbridge Hurricanes, and the Broncos.

McGregor already has 11 points in his first 14 games this season. The 6’3’’ defenseman played 63 games as a rookie last season.

Rocak is a veteran of 151 WHL games, including 29 games with the Broncos last season after being acquired in a trade from the Kelowna Rockets. He has one assist in three games this season.
