The Swift Current Innovation Federal Credit Union Wildcats lost game one of their second round Saskatchewan Female U18 AAA Hockey League playoff series 6-3 to the host Saskatoon Stars on Friday.
The Wildcats led 2-0 in the first period, but then allowed three straight power play goals as the Stars finished five-for-six on the man-advantage.
Madden Rublee, Rayna Hennie, and Laynee Rondeau scored for the Wildcats. Kara Bergen, Stevie Christiaens, and Taylre Becker added assist. Jordyn Ottenbreit made 34 saves in the loss. The Wildcats finished zero-for-five on the power play.
Halle Duchene led the Stars with three goals, followed by two from Sadie Green and one from Kolbee Ashe. Tarynn Sutter earned the win with 18 saves.
Game two of the best-of-three series will be Monday in Swift Current.
