The Swift Current Pure Chem Broncos lost game one of the Saskatchewan U15 AA Hockey League semi-final 5-3 to the host Sask East Oilers on Thursday.
Seven of the game’s eight goals were scored in the second period when the home team emerged with a 4-3 lead before adding an insurance goal in the third period.
Josh Benjamin made 44 saves in the loss. Spencer Gader, Finn Gustafson, and Jace Wills scored. Damon James had two assists, while Carter Bleau, Benson Wallis, and Brody Knakoske all added single helpers.
Mahlon Wiley led the Oilers with two goals and one assist. Liam Van Caeseele, Emerson Sparvier, and Dylan Veroba also scored.
Game two of the best-of-three series will be Saturday in Cabri.
