15U AAA 57’s win silver at Provincials

The Swift Current 15U AAA 57’s won silver at AAA Tier 2 Provincials in Regina over the weekend.

Friday, the 57’s opened the tournament with an 11-1 win over the Regina Athletics.

Quinn Bolton hit a two-run home in the third inning. He made the start on the mound and did not allow a hit. He walked three and allowed one earned run while striking out three.

Owen Odermatt got the final seven outs without allowing a run. He also had two singles, one walk, scored three runs, and had one run batted in. Reid Cashin doubled, stole a base, and scored two runs.

Saturday, the 57’s followed up with an 11-0 win over the East Central Dodgers. Sam Olesen pitched the complete game shutout as he allowed six hits and one walk while striking out five along the way.

Bolton hit another home run as he finished with two hits, two stolen bases, three runs scored, and two RBIs. Odermatt doubled, walked, and had three RBIs.

Leadoff man Jamie Kirwan singled, walked, stole three bases, scored, and had one RBI. Zach Mitchell singled, walked twice, stole a base, scored twice, and had one RBI. Kyron Watson singled, doubled, stole a base, scored, and had two RBIs.

The 15U AAA 57’s added a 9-4 win over the South East A’s later that day. They only had nine hits, but six of them were doubles. Olesen finished with one double and three RBIs. Odermatt added three walks, one run scored, and one RBI. Cashin added a walk, a run scored, and two RBIs. Cooper Barlow and Finn Gustafson both added a single, a run scored, and one RBI.

Kirwan picked up the win as he tossed four scoreless innings in relief, striking out four.

The 57’s dropped their final round robin game 25-3 to the Moose Jaw Canucks. Kirwan had the only hit and also stole a base.

They dropped the gold medal game 10-6 to the East Central Dodgers.

Cashin had three singles, one stolen base, one run scored, and two RBIs. Kirwan walked twice, stole three bases, and scored twice. Mitchell singled twice, stole a base, scored, and had one RBI. Olesen doubled, scored, and had one RBI.
