Swift Current Fire Department (SCFD) can confirm that there was a fatality following a June 18 fire.
SCFD crews responded to a structure fire at 14th Avenue Southeast on Tuesday night, June 18 at approximately 23:55 hours. On arrival, flames were noted coming out of two windows and the back door.
The responding crew initiated a fast attack knocking the fire down within minutes. One crew remained on scene throughout the evening to ensure re-ignition of the fire did not occur.
Three SCFD vehicles responded to the incident, involving ten (10) personnel. RCMP, Ambulance, SaskEnergy, City Waterworks and City Light & Power were also on scene.
Heavy structural and content damages resulted from the incident. Cause of the fire is undetermined due to the extensive damage to the structure.
No other information regarding the victim will be released. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
