The Swift Current Innovation Federal Credit Union Wildcats earned a shootout win during a two-game road trip to Saskatoon over the weekend.
Saturday, the Wildcats lost 4-2 as they finished zero-for-four on the power play and allowed two power play goals to the host Stars.
The Wildcats trailed after second-period goals from Peyton Gabruck, Kelsey Ledoux, and Shayla Koroll. They answered in the third period with an Alexie Pachinski goal and a shorthanded marker from Raela Packet. Kyla Benjamin earned the only assist. Ledoux closed the scoring with a power play goal.
Paige Fischer took the loss with 39 saves on 43 shots. Makayla Christman made 16 saves for the Stars.
Sunday, Kaylee Williams scored the only goal of the 10-player shootout as the Wildcats won 4-3. Fischer made 41 saves and stopped all five attempts in the shootout.
Williams scored twice in regulation and Palchinski registered one goal and two assists. Benjamin added two assists, followed by singles from Evangeline Hill and Packet.
Avery Bairos led the Stars with two goals, Haley Braun also scored, and Ava Drabyk made 31 saves.
The Wildcats sat fifth in the Saskatchewan Female U18 AA Hockey League with a 7-14-2-3 record. The Stars were second at 16-2-3-2.
The Wildcats will visit the Prince Albert Bears for two league games this weekend.
