The Swift Current Home Hardware Legionnaires won once in two attempts in the Saskatchewan Male U18 AAA Hockey League in Tisdale over the weekend.
Saturday, the Legionnaires defeated the host Tisdale Trojans in a shootout. Kade Stringer and Parker Rondeau both scored in the shootout, while Berney Weston turned aside Eric Han and Sam Grosso. Weston earned the win with 37 saves.
Jace Egland led the Legionnaires with two goals, while Tristan Mitchell-Mcelhone added two assists. Jackson Fox scored late to force overtime. Griffin Darby and Kai Packet added assists.
Sunday, the Legionnaires lost 1-0 despite firing 38 shots on the Trojans goal. Han scored the only goal for Tisdale, while Dylan Twidale earned the shutout.
Weston made 24 saves for the Legionnaires.
The Legionnaires (2-1-0) will visit the Prince Albert Mintos for two games next weekend to continue a stretch of nine road games to open the regular season. They will host their home opener on Oct. 28.
