The Swift Current Comp. Senior Colts placed sixth at the Helping Hoops tournament in Moose Jaw over the weekend.
The Colts opened the tournament with an 83-48 loss to the host AE Peacock Toilers when a five-point opening quarter left them fighting an uphill battle. Duncan Gevana led the Colts with nine points, followed by Makstr McIntyre with eight points.
The Colts picked up their first win of the season over a 5A opponent when they defeated the Greenall Griffins 82-58. The Colts led 26-10 after one quarter and 45-32 at halftime on their way to a comfortable win.
Gevana led the Colts again with 16 points. Danon Funk added 14 points in the victory.
The Colts dropped their consolation final 65-46 when they were limited to seven points in the opening frame. Carson Skazyk led the Colts with 14 points, followed by 10 from McIntyre.
The Colts (7-12) will return to tournament action on March 3-4 in North Battleford. They will open play with games against the Prince Albert Carlton Crusaders and Yorkton Regional Raiders.
