The Swift Current Comp. Ardens senior girls basketball team won the consolation side of the Campbell Invitational Tournament in Regina over the weekend.
They were edged 52-49 by the host Campbell Tartans in the quarter-final game. Grade 12 forward Makayla Fleischfresser led the Ardens with 20 points, followed by 12 from Mia Riegel.
The Ardens topped the Centennial Chargers 67-40 in the consolation semi-final, led by 13 points from Grace Thierman and 12 from Fleischfresser.
The Ardens closed out the tournament with a 68-43 win over Saskatoon St. Joseph. Fleischfresser scored 17 points and Thierman added 12.
The Ardens will be in Calgary this weekend for a tournament.
The Swift Current Comp. Senior Colts placed seventh at an eight-team basketball tournament in Estevan over the weekend.
The Colts dropped the opening game 91-63 to the host Elecs. Duncan Gevana led the Colts with 22 points and was named the Player of the Game. Makstr McIntyre added 16 points.
The Colts lost the next game 74-69 to the Regina Huda Hurricanes. They led 38-33 at halftime but were outscored 24-17 in the final quarter. McIntyre and Gevana led the Colts with 21 points apiece and McIntyre was named the Player of the Game.
The Colts won the final game 57-42 over the Melville Cobras to move to 6-9 on the season. Gevana led the Colts with 18 points, followed by 11 from McIntyre. Carson Skazyk was named the Player of the Game.
The Colts will head to Regina for an exhibition game on Tuesday against the O’Neill Titans.
The Colts will return to tournament action in Moose Jaw on Feb. 17-18.
