Wyatt Wilson is getting another change of scenery in his Western Hockey League career. The Swift Current product was traded from the Victoria Royals to the Winnipeg Ice on Monday.
The Royals received a conditional fourth round pick in 2023 and a conditional fourth round pick in 2026 for the 6’3’’, 208-pound defenseman. Wilson has 13 points and 54 penalty minutes in 59 career games with the Royals.
Wilson is leaving the last-place team in the Western Conference for the WHL leading Ice (27-4-0-0).
Wilson has been out of the line-up since suffering a lower body injury in early October. The Ice will be his fourth WHL team after being drafted by the Lethbridge Hurricanes before being traded to the Swift Current Broncos and then to Victoria.
Younger brother Anthony Wilson was traded from Royals to the Brandon Wheat Kings on Nov. 24 in a deal involving three players and three draft picks.
