The Swift Current Comp. Senior Colts will enter 5A Boys Volleyball Provincials as heavy favourites after winning their last seven tournament outings.
The Colts met little resistance at Regionals in Weyburn on Saturday when they won all four matches without dropping a set.
They defeated Balgonie (25-12, 25-15) and Weyburn (25-23, 25-17) to top their round robin group. The Colts added a win over Balgonie in the semi-final (25-12, 25-17) and then defeated the host Weyburn Eagles (25-19, 25-19) in the gold medal match.
The defending champion Colts will host Provincials on Friday and Sunday.
The SCCHS Senior Ardens will also compete at Provincials after placing third at Regionals in Moose Jaw.
They lost their opening match to Yorkton Regional (25-19, 24-26, 7-15) before winning three of their next four matches to qualify. They defeated Weyburn in three sets (25-16, 26-28, 15-11) to earn a spot in the playoffs.
The Ardens defeated Moose Jaw AE Peacock in the semi-final (25-12, 25-22) and then lost to Balgonie in the semi-final (12-25, 19-25). They rebounded in the bronze medal match to defeat Weyburn 25-15 and 25-19 to book a spot at 5A Provincials in Balgonie.
The Colts will open provincials on Friday at 12 p.m. against Prince Albert Carlton. They will also face Estevan at 2:15 p.m. and Saskatoon Holy Cross at 5:30 p.m.
The Colts will conclude the round robin on Saturday at 10 a.m. against Regina Martin.
The championship match is slated for 5:45 p.m.
