Swift Current’s Kathy Hopfner and Denise Wilson, both golfing out of the Elmwood Golf and Country Club, took part in the Canadian Senior Women’s Championship at Breezy Bend Golf and Country Club in Headingly, MB last week.
Hopfner finished tied for 38th at Nationals. She opened the tournament with a 14-over 86 on day one. Hopfner carded a 91 on day two and was tied for 55th after two rounds. Hopfner had an outstanding final round when she carded a 79 on day three to climb the leaderboard.
Wilson finished tied for 49th over three rounds at Nationals. She was 16-over on day one for an 87. Wilson trimmed three strokes on day two for an 84 to sit tied for 37th. Wilson closed out the tournament with a 90 on day three.
Shelly Stouffer (Nanoose, Bay, BC) won the senior crown by one shot as she fired rounds of 74, 73, and 72 to finish three over.
